Honorary Consul David Grabovac

David Grabovac took up his appointment as Honorary Consul of the Bahamas to Australia in March 2016. Approval to accept the Bahamian Governments nomination was made by the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Premiers and Chief Ministers of all six Australian states and two federal territories.
In his capacity as Honorary Consul, David represents Bahamian interests in Australia, contributes to the bilateral relations between the Bahamas and Australia, and develops trade, economy, tourism, and cultural relations between the two countries.
David holds a Doctorate in Education from St Petersburg State University, a Master of Leadership and Management in Education from the University of Newcastle, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Southern Cross University. He has undertaken Global Diplomacy training at the University of London and in 2013 was elected a member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
He is the Honorary President of the International Association of Private Career Colleges, Chairman of the Grabovac Scholarship Foundation, a Patron of the Arts in the Vatican Museums and an Ambassador of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, the world's leading youth development program. David has for many years been actively involved with a wide range of education, international development, humanitarian, cultural, art and conservation initiatives.
David has taught as a lecturer at Martin College, Cornell Institute, and the Australian College of Journalism. He is a visiting professor at St. Paul University Philippines, teaching Internationalization of Education to doctoral students.
He currently serves as Executive Director of a private investment company with business interests in financial services. David has previously worked as a Policy Adviser to the Australian Minister for Education, Science and Training and in the senior management of several private colleges.
In 2020 David was awarded the Red Cross of Merit for services to the Red Cross and Humanity (Republic of Portugal). He is also the recipient of dynastic orders of merit from Georgia, Montenegro, Spain, Italy and Portugal. In 2023 he received an Honorary Doctorate from the College de Paris in recognition of his contributions to the fields of business, education and diplomacy.
