Police Character Certificate

Bahamians and residents of The Bahamas are advised to obtain copy of their Police Character Certificate before they leave the country. Obtaining a first copy of this certificate will facilitate the process of obtaining a new certificate in the future.

Police Character Certificate Form is used to apply for a certificate that states whether the applicant has a criminal record or not.

To request a police record/clearance from the Royal Bahamas Police Force, complete the Police Character Certificate Form and add the following supporting documents:

  • A certified copy of the identification page(s) of passport (Certified by a Pastor, Justice of the peace, Police Officer or Lawyer, etc.)
  • Certified copies of fingerprints (Certified by a Pastor, Justice of the peace, Police Officer or Lawyer, etc.)
  • Application fee of US$5 in the form of a International Money Order (not postal money order) made payable to The Bahamas Public Treasury
  • A prepaid courier package to send the police record to you (FedEx or Australian Express Post International Airway Bill from Australia Post)
  • Police Record Form

Please be advised that the Royal Bahamas Police Force will not accept applications by email or online and will only accept the original documentation as outlined above. Person’s collecting Character Certificates on behalf of an applicant must present a valid identification (Passport, Driver’s License, or voters Card) for that person and their own valid identification before the Certificate can be issued.
